Golowan
21-30 June 24

Golowan is a 10-day festival of arts, performances, culture and parades. It’s the UK’s second largest street festival.

The 2024 Golowan theme ‘Together, We Shine’ celebrates all that is brilliant and inspirational about our community, past and present.

We want to illuminate those amongst us who do or have forged the way, been leaders, guiding lights. Organisations that support, uplift, bring us together, give us pride.

Who would you shine a light on?

THE GOLOWAN LAUNCH PARTY:
Friday 21 June
Dy'Gwener 21 mis Metheven
CIVIC CHURCH PARADE FOR THE FEAST SERVICES & TORCHLIT PROCESSION:
Sunday 23 June
Dy'Sul 23 mis Metheven

Together, We Shine. Think: Humphry Davy, Mousehole Xmas lights & Newlyn fireworks, our firemen or lifeboat crews, those who run the food bank, that person who opens the church so the homeless can sleep safe and dry. The moon, the stars, our traditions such as torchlit ceremonies and fire in the streets, Montol. The refugees, welcomed, have a generosity of spirit which, despite such hardship, shines for us all. The people behind the Pride march or those underneath the street food project. Let’s celebrate them. And don’t forget our lovely shiny selves –what are you going to wear, or do? How will you shine for Golowan?

Volunteer For Golowan

Volunteers play a major part in Golowan celebrations.

Volunteering is a great way to participate and to feel connected and supportive of our community festival.

There are many roles from stewarding and shaking a donations tub to distributing much needed water to rehydrate the wonderful parade participants!

Golowan 2024 is getting closer by the day and if you are interested in volunteering, please contact us at community@golowanfestival.org or fill in the form below and we will get in touch with more information.

Golowan is supported by

Penzance Council

Penzance Council is our lead supporter and Golowan Festival is very grateful for its continued support of the festival, contributing both financial support and advice, and assistance in other ways.

However, we are also thankful to the following organisations and businesses for their continued help and support.

Golowan was awarded funding from the Culture Recovery Fund so we could overcome setbacks caused by the Coronavirus lockdown. This means the future of Golowan is much more secure.

If you are a business or an individual interested in becoming a supporter or sponsor of Golowan, we would be delighted to hear from you.
