Each year thousands of children, families and schools throw themselves into the Golowan Festival. Many dress up to link with their procession pieces and this year with the theme Golowan – The Never Ending Story – we’re hoping to see some wonderful story characters coming to life on the streets of Penzance on Mazey Day (25 June).
We’re inviting the people of Penzance and surrounding villages, as well as visitors, to give something back to the children in 2016 and … dress up too! So start planning your costume today! Sara and Linda are thinking of running with the ‘Where’s Wally’ character so expect lots of red ‘n white stripey people popping up here and there. And there are so many story characters to choose from: Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland, Long John Silver, Winnie-the-Pooh.
Meanwhile, planning is underway with the more routine stuff of putting on a huge festival – planning road closures, booking market stalls, planning street entertainment, preparing the programme etc. So although the festival is 11 weeks away there’s a lot going on behind the scenes.
Hope you’re looking forward to the festival as much as we are.
